This friendly team really look after their new graduates. There will be plenty of support provided. The current team have a wealth of knowledge to share.
The mix of work is 60% small animal and 40% large animal. Of the large animal work, at least 50% is dairy, with the rest being a mix of horses, sheep, beef and goats.
In this full-time role, you will be required to participate in a 1 in 5/6 after-hours rota. During the week, shift times are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Saturdays are 9 am to 12 pm, with the rest of the weekend being on-call. Vets have a four-day weekend after a weekend on call.
The successful applicant will have a good attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Special interests are accommodated and encouraged. One of the practice partners has an interest in orthopaedic surgery.
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
Housed in a spacious, renovated building, it has all the usual equipment, including small animal ultrasound and digital x-ray machine and is computerised with RxWorks software. The clinic also has a large animal ultrasound and in-house laboratory.
The practice is located in a friendly town in the centre of a prosperous dairy area of northern Victoria. The area boasts a pleasant, warm and sunny climate all year round, and all the usual sporting, social and educational facilities are easily accessible. It is just twenty minutes from a large rural city and the Murray River, and within a reasonable driving distance of the snow during winter.
30/9/21 Comments from a 2020 grad: I started here as a new graduate. It is a really fun team to work with. The nurses are really helpful. The other vets were fantastic to work with. It is a supportive practice. There is a very good mix of work and lots of exposure to an excellent caseload.
