Are you considering the next step in your veterinarian career? Are you keen on gaining practical rural experience in a small, welcoming community?

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time, permanent, mixed or large animal veterinarian at a rapidly growing clinic in the Otago region of New Zealand's South Island.

This role will see you joining an existing clinical team of four vets, three vet techs and a vet nurse. The caseload would be approximately 40% companion animal and 60% large animal. However, this can be flexible. Large animal only vets are encouraged to apply.

This practice provides quality veterinary services that are recognised as being truly world-class. This is a progressive animal health clinic. The team provide an extensive range of services to dairy clients, as well as to other production animals, working dogs and companion animals. They take pride in playing an active role in the community they live and work in every day.

The salary offered is $110,000+ per annum, depending on experience. CPD is actively encouraged and the employer also makes a contribution to wellbeing activities (some people have bought ski passes with their portion, others join the gym or do a photography course!).

You will be working full-time hours with a sensible after-hours roster in place.

A relocation allowance is provided, veterinary registration paid and staff discounts applied for companion animals. A work vehicle, laptop and phone are provided, plus six weeks of accommodation provided on arrival (if relocating). Plus, there is plenty of 'food for good,' when on the go - fruit, nibbles, and snacks to keep you going!

In your new role, you will further develop as a veterinarian and gain experience by working on your own cases and having key clients. You will work with plenty of mentoring from other highly experienced veterinarians. Over time, developing in the management space and learning all about the behind-the-scenes parts of a veterinary business is also an option if that is of interest to you.

The employer recognises that their people are their greatest asset, and the team works hard together to be passionate and enthusiastic about what they do. Being a veterinarian is a challenging and rewarding career, and this practice can provide you with opportunities to further develop your personal interests.

The practice is located in a town known as the gateway to the Catlins Coast. The area offers easy access to nature and is surrounded by beautiful scenery, making it an ideal location for anyone who enjoys nature and the outdoors. If you get a longing for the city, there is one located an hour's drive away.
