A predominantly companion animal position has become available in an urban practice in the Manawatu-Wanganui region of New Zealand's North Island.

This full-time role is to work with a team of four vets, supported by five vet nurses.

The workload is almost solely companion animals but spiced up with a few backyard and lifestyle block livestock patients to keep life interesting. This includes dairy, beef and sheep. The practice has a strong involvement in sports medicine and canine reproduction.

If surgery is your forte, you are welcome to discuss a 100% surgery role with the employer. Otherwise, the position will entail a mix of surgery and consults.

The successful candidate will benefit from:

- A top remuneration package including vehicle, Professional Registration fees, CPD support and assistance with relocation.

- A top team of support staff, all of whom are qualified Veterinary Nurses.

- A 'family-like' workplace culture and loads of social and collegial support.

- Special interest areas are supported and encouraged.

There is minimal after-hours required with a 1 in 10 roster. There is always backup available whilst on-call.

There is plenty of room for growth in your career at this practice. Special interests and CPD are encouraged and supported.

You will have the pleasure of working in a modern, purpose-built clinic equipped with a full in-house lab, ultrasound, CR radiography, endoscopy and more.

The ideal applicant will:

- Have 2+ years of experience.

- Have excellent communication skills and empathy to build strong relationships with clients and your work colleagues.

- Have a passion for your profession and a 'can do' problem-solving attitude.

- Be a team player who is organised, self-motivated, resilient, and willing to take themselves to new heights.

- Must be (or be eligible to be) registered with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.

This sub-tropical region has plenty to offer. It is an affordable place to live, with a friendly, vibrant community, access to the great outdoors, and within easy reach of other centres on the North Island.
