A veterinarian is required to join a two-site true-mixed practice. There are five vets employed across this privately-owned group.
Both experienced vets and new/recent graduates are welcome to apply.
This position would suit a veterinarian keen to undertake small animal medicine and surgery work but also happy to attend large animal calls.
The practice sees a 50% large animal and 50% small animal caseload, but this can be modified to suit your interests.
The successful applicant will be joining a motivated, passionate team of vets and nurses who care about each other, their clients and pets, and are an integral part of their clients' livestock businesses.
The small animal work is full of interesting medical and surgical cases. Orthopaedic surgery and canine reproduction services are performed in-house.
The practice provides lots of on-farm services, and each vet has their own fully equipped car with an inverter and fridge drawer. You will also be provided with a mobile phone.
The large animal work includes a variety of beef cattle commercial and seed stock stud enterprises, small scale feedlots, and performance horse studs.
During the equine breeding season, they operate a small on-farm equine breeding centre where there is plenty of opportunities to fine-tune your skills in semen collection and processing, as well as chilled and frozen artificial insemination of mares.
This full time role will involve working an 8 or 9 day fortnight. Rosters and working hours are flexible. 1 in 5 after-hours will be required on weekends.
You will be provided with 1 week's study leave, paid AVA membership and $1,000 towards conference costs for CVE. The employer is also willing to assist with relocation expenses.
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound and has an excellent range of large animal equipment.
The practice is located approximately five and a half hours' drive from Brisbane and two and a half hours from a large regional centre. There are plenty of activities to enjoy in the area, including water skiing, boating and hiking.
