LOCATION: Essex, United Kingdom

TYPE OF WORK: Exotics & some small animal work

HOURS: Full Time

SALARY: Negotiable

JOB NO: 208,171SB2

A unique opportunity for an experienced exotics veterinarian has become available in a great area of Essex.

The position is to work at a small independent practice with a well-established exotics caseload. The practice sees a variety of small mammals, reptiles, birds and some larger species like alpacas, goats, raccoon dogs and primates.

The ideal applicant will be a certificate holder or someone working towards a certificate. However, this is not essential.

The employer is looking for a team player who can take on a significant part of the exotics caseload but also do some dog and cat work.

The rota would involve a 4-day week, 1 in 4 weekends, no on-call duties and the usual holiday and bank holiday allowances. Three days of CPD and a £1,500 allowance is provided. This is also open to negotiation, depending on the requirements of the successful vet.

Sponsorship (work permit) is considered for experienced overseas applicants.

They have visiting specialists in other disciplines, including orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, cardiology, ultrasound and internal medicine. The team also treat the animals at two local rescue centres, which include a large range of species such as reptiles, small mammals, birds and farm animals.

The clinic is very spacious and modern and is well equipped with DR digital x-rays, ultrasound, CT, dental suite, as well as the usual blood test machines and radiosurgery.

The successful applicant will work alongside an experience certificate holder in Zoological Medicine who would be willing to mentor and teach as much as needed.

The location is a lovely part of Essex with easy train access to London (25 mins to Liverpool Street) as well as beaches and countryside.
