A practice on the beautiful Scottish Borders is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced equine vet to join them for 12 months in a maternity cover role.

Start date: May/June 2024

You will have the support of an experienced and friendly team of vets, most of whom have been with the practice for more than three years. There are varied levels of experience and interests within the team, with one colleague having a keen interest in dentistry, two colleagues enrolled in a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Internal Medicine.

There is a really strong team ethos with an active social committee. They organise everything from cinema outings to zip-lining to stand-up paddle boarding!

The clinic houses modern equine diagnostic equipment, including video endoscope, video gastroscope, battery-operated digital radiography, HD oroscope, ultrasound and three motorised HDE/Dynamic dental kits.

About the role:

– Varied 1st opinion caseload

– Back up of a referral centre 1 hour away

– Shifts are 8:30 am to 6 pm (the team nearly always get away for lunch!)

– 4.5 day working week, with the option to take a half day off per week or a full day off per fortnight

This progressive mixed practice has multiple sites located around the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and Edinburgh. This branch is set in a rural location near the coast but within an hour of Edinburgh.
