Experienced Veterinary Nurse Wanted
A practice in the Northern Territory is looking for a full-time experienced veterinary nurse to join their ASAV Accredited Veterinary Hospital of Excellence.
This is a large, high quality, busy practice that provides excellent conditions for its employees.
Essential attributes:
- Certificate II in Animal Studies or higher qualification
- Minimum two years' full-time equivalent experience in small animal veterinary practice
- Ability to provide a high level of care to not only the patients, but also the clients
- Keenness to obtain Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, if not already qualified
- Ability to work weekends, early starts and late finishes
- Intention to make a career of veterinary nursing
- Permanent resident if not a qualified Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher, or overseas equivalent veterinary nursing qualification)
Desirable attributes:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
- Unrestricted driver's licence
- Permanent resident
The employer is offering:
- An ASAV accredited hospital and everything that goes with it
- An average of 38 hours per week with overtime paid
- For a qualified (Certificate IV) Veterinary Nurse with more than three years' experience in small animal practice: $30.05 per hour plus the Award entitlements
- For a qualified (Certificate IV) Veterinary Nurse with 2-3 years' experience in small animal practice: $26.44 per hour plus the Award entitlements
- For a not-yet-qualified veterinary nurse with more than three years' experience in small animal practice: The Level 3 Award rate (currently $22.04 per hour) plus the Award entitlements AND the employer will pay for you to get your Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (conditions apply)
- For a not-yet-qualified veterinary nurse with 2-3 years' experience in small animal practice: The Level 2 Award rate (currently $21.12 per hour) plus the Award entitlements AND the employer will pay for you to get your Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (conditions apply)
The position will involve all facets of veterinary nursing, including vet nursing consults, placing catheters, collecting bloods and a small amount of reception duties.
The innovative, state-of-the-art facility has five consulting rooms, plus a euthanasia suite, separate cat waiting area, two operating theatres, dedicated dental area, imaging suite, separate isolation ward, intensive care ward, cat and dog wards and much more.
It is equipped with everything you would expect such as Doppler BP, pulse oximetry, ECG, ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy, Idexx in-house biochemistry and haematology, iM3 dental machine, 5 anaesthetic machines and orthopaedic surgical equipment. There is also a budget and plan to continually upgrade. The practice is computerised with EzyVet software.
There are excellent sporting, educational and entertainment facilities within the town. The area is full of adventures to enjoy on days off, including beautiful landscape trails, wildlife spotting and amazing camping!!
