A busy practice employing 14 vets and 30 support staff is looking for an experienced small animal vet to join their team.

This long-established practice is comprised of a main hospital, nearby branch practice, and a purpose-built equine hospital. They have a mixed client base. This includes progressive dairy and beef farmers, an expanding population of equine clients, and dedicated small animal owners who trust them with the care of their animals.

The position is full-time or part-time, with full time hours entailing nine days per fortnight to be worked. There will be a requirement to participate in the after-hours roster.

The clinic hours are 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am to 12 noon Saturday. After-hours are shared equally.

The practice refers very little. They are able to diagnose and treat most things in-house due to quality equipment and the extensive experience of their team. They treat all routine medical and surgical cases. One of the senior vets is an experienced surgeon and is willing to mentor someone to develop these skills.

You will have access to a fully-equipped hospital with most of the latest equipment, including an in-house IDEXX laboratory, ultrasound, CT, digital x-ray, full orthopaedic kits, video endoscope and arthroscope, IM3 Dental, rehabilitation including hydrotherapy, along with an equine hospital with full surgery facilities.

The practice values their employees and provides a number of additional support services, including one week's study leave, AVA membership and the Employee Assistance Program.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

All staff at the practice are supported by a friendly team of experienced veterinarians and helpful, experienced nursing staff. Professional peer support and continued education are strongly encouraged. The practice will support a vet who is interested in pursuing memberships.

This position is based in the Gippsland region, with nearby mountains, lakes and national parks. The practice is also only a 45-minute drive from the beautiful southeast coast.
