Calling all new graduates!

A three vet practice on the coast of South Australia is looking for a new recruit!

Start your career in a caring environment with plenty of support to ease into the routine of a busy practice.

Applications from experienced vets are also welcome.

In your new role, you will have the support of the practice principle who has over 30 years' experience as a veterinarian. He has mentored and worked with over 20 new graduates and is aware of the stress and difficulties you will face when you begin. You will also work alongside an exceptional nursing team of fully qualified nurses who are passionate about their job.

This practice does not focus on KPI's or how much money is generated, rather focusing on the clients and patients. When someone can't pay for a service this practice will treat their pet anyway, as it makes everyone's day better. Although they are not a charity, their emphasis on people and not dollars, means they have a tremendously successful practice that can afford to help people and patients who are in need. This creates a wonderful environment to work in, where employees love their workplace and want to be there.

The team works collaboratively on most cases, where they help each other out and have time to formulate diagnostic and treatment plans together. Surgically you will work in tandem with a senior vet until you are confident on your own. All orthopaedics and larger surgeries are carried out by two vets working together, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills without the pressure of being on your own.

The orthopaedic surgical caseload includes platings, pinnings, external fixations and cruciate repairs (Tightrope, DeAngelis and also TTO's), plus a wide range of soft tissue surgeries including routine spays, castrates, ex laps, splenectomies, gastrointestinal surgery, GDVs, enucleations, hernias, tumour removals and more.

Diagnostic equipment available to work up your cases includes; an in-house blood machine (Haematology and Biochemistry including electrolyte analysis, serum Fructosamine, Phenobarbitone levels and TT4), microscopy, digital radiography and an ultrasound machine. All these items are used daily as needed to work up cases.

You will see a variety of the following cases such as skin and ear cases, vomiting dogs, grass seeds, lameness, snake bites, vaccinations, and anal glands.

You will see an interesting mix of wildlife, kangaroos, birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs as well as the occasional horse, pet sheep or goat.

Your generous salary package will include:

- Generous Remuneration + Bonuses

- $57,000 base + Super for a new graduate

- 5 Weeks annual leave

- Extra annual leave: up to 3 weeks extra can be taken on a pro rata basis

This is a full-time position to work 8:15 am to 5 pm, 38 hours per week. Afterhours are required with a very flexible 1:3 rota. The employer ensures that you will only join this rota once you feel comfortable and you will have back up support during the first few months.

To be the right fit for this position, you will have:

- A positive attitude - happiness is infectious!

- The ability to talk to people and care about what they have to say.

- Show empathy for both your patients and their owners.

- Have enthusiasm for this great profession of ours!

Feedback from a 2015 graduate currently working at the practice: I joined the practice as a new graduate in 2015 and am now heading into my fourth year. I thoroughly enjoy working in a rural clinic, it means that there is great diversity in both case types and patients. You will be supported by a very dedicated nursing and veterinary team, with our priority focusing on the best patient care and ensuring we prove great service to our clients. The practice is located in a beautiful place, it is situated only a short drive to the Clare Valley or Adelaide. The beaches are beautiful to explore and the region also offer lots of sporting opportunities.

If this sounds like you and you like the sound of this wonderful opportunity, this practice would love to hear from you!
