Are you looking for surgical mentoring? A unique opportunity has become available to join a practice in one of Victoria's most beautiful locations. If you are looking to combine your love of veterinary science and the great outdoors, this could be the job for you.

The role will have a significant surgical component. Mentoring in surgery will be provided by two senior surgeons to help the successful applicant further develop their surgical skills.

The successful applicant can choose to work full or part time hours. The practice offers five weeks of annual leave and one week of study leave per year with conference registration paid each year. The vet will work across two locations in South Gippsland.

Applicants should be competent in routine small animal surgery. Additional surgical skills, including orthopaedic experience and advanced soft tissue surgery skills, such as brachycephalic surgery, would be viewed favourably. Memberships in small animal surgery or the desire to obtain these in future would be advantageous.

The clinics are part of a larger group offering both large and small animal services. The staff at the group are treated like family. You will join a team of 30 veterinarians, a business manager and a large team of friendly nurses, receptionists and groomers. Applicants should have the desire and ability to work as part of a cohesive team delivering services to the local community.

The clinics are well-appointed and include in house pathology, digital radiography, dental radiography, dental equipment, ECG, endoscopy, ultrasonography and good surgical facilities. One of the clinics is currently undergoing an exciting rebuild which is due to be completed by the end of 2019. This will increase the size of the facility and the services on offer.

The current small animal vets have special interests in radiology, ultrasound, surgery, behaviour, pathology, dermatology, dentistry and ophthalmology. While most things are managed in house, referral services in Melbourne are utilized when required.

The group is located on the beautiful South Coast just over two hours from Melbourne. The South Gippsland region gives access to pristine beaches and national parks including stunning Wilsons Promontory.
