A position has become available for a vet to join a state-of-the-art, ASAV accredited practice. This is a unique opportunity to work in one of Australia's best practices, with an excellent employer.
The practice invites applications from both experienced vets and recent graduates with a minimum of 12 months' clinical experience.
The role has the flexibility to be full or part time, fly in/fly out or job share. The employer is open to negotiation for the role to suit you.
Work-life balance is important so the clinic allows for 30-minute consults, ensuring you have plenty of time to complete your work and reducing the need to stay back. There is also a break for an hour for lunch!
This position would suit a vet who relishes challenging cases and is continually improving their knowledge and skills. The practice treats most of the interesting medical and surgical cases in-house. They see a wide variety of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery cases, and regularly see severe trauma cases which are very rewarding to treat, requiring a high level of emergency, medical and surgical care.
The practice operates out of a modern, purpose-built, ASAV Accredited hospital. It has a very impressive floor plan with five consulting rooms (one reserved just for cats), plus euthanasia suite, separate cat waiting area, two operating theatres, imaging room, separate isolation ward, intensive care ward, cat and dog wards, a staff room and a quiet office for research and study.
The clinic is equipped with everything you would expect such as Doppler BP, pulse oximetry, ECG, ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy, Idexx in-house biochemistry and haematology, iM3 dental machine, dental x-ray, 5 anaesthetic machines and orthopaedic surgical equipment. The practice is computerised with EzyVet software.
There are excellent sporting, educational and entertainment facilities within the town. There are daily flights to most capital cities and Qantas and Virgin lounges at the airport.
Sponsorship (work permit) is available for experience overseas veterinarians.
There are partnership prospects for the right applicant, if desired.
19/08/19 Feedback from a 2011 graduate who is currently working at this practice: This is a beautiful custom-built facility. We do 30-minute consults, which is fantastic. I have done a lot of locum work and seen a lot of practices around Australia and this practice has really high standards of care. There is a lot of case management discussion between the vets. There is a really good caseload of both medicine and surgery. One of the senior vets at the practice is a very good orthopaedic surgeon. We have really lovely clients, and there is a good diagnostic workup rate. Consults are scheduled so there is time for writing up your cases. The practice owner is a wonderful boss. She is very approachable. This is a really interesting place to live. There is a great sense of community here. There are great opportunities for sports in town, plenty of cultural activities, beautiful gorges and the camping is amazing!
